   Graded Ballet ISTD

'Ballet is an expressive art from based on technically precise movements combined with artistry and musicality in order to tell a story.  It is considered a core subject to other dance styles as it challenges and focuses the brain and body, making difficult movements look effortless and graceful as well as developing discipline and etiquette required to make a successful performer'.

We offer ISTD Graded Classes in:- Pre-Primary, Primary, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5, Grade 6,Intermediate and Advanced 1, along with Beginners Pointe, Advanced Pointe and Freework Classes.

Graded Modern & Tap ISTD

'Modern dance is popular genre that was developed in the early 20th century as a reaction to classical ballet.  It is a style used in a variety of theatrical performances.  Modern classes are lively and fun, and cover a variety of styles including lyrical, upbeat, jazz, musical theatre, floor work and improvisation'.

We offer Modern Classes to pupils aged 4 and above and follow the ISTD syllabus offering examinations from Grade 1 to Advance 2.

'Tap dance finds its origin in American tradition.  It is fun style of dance that anyone can learn, regardless of previous dance experience.  In tap the dancer uses their feet to strike the floor, beating out different rhythms, with dancers wearing  tap shoes which have small metal plates on the toe and heel to give the distinctive sound.  Tap dance is a theatrical art form often seen on stage in musicals.  Tap dancing allows you to be both a dancer and a musician combining visuals and sound at the same time.  Cognitive abilities are also enhanced, as tap dancers must develop both mental and muscle memory to become proficient at tapping'.

We follow the ISTD syllabus of Tap Dance, and offer classes at Preschool, grades and vocational grades from Primary to Advanced 2.

Jazz, Contemporary & Commercial

'Jazz dance is an exciting and diverse dance form that is often associated with cabaret and musical theatre, however its influence has broadened out to areas such as music videos and concerts.  Our jazz classes work on strengthening technique by focusing on conditioning, corner work drills, kicks, leaps, turn and choreography'.

We offer Jazz classes to all pupils ages 5 and above at 4 levels from beginners to advanced.

'Contemporary dance is a very expressive style that rejects the rigid and more centred aspect of classical forms of dance, and instead incorporates unconventional movements from styles around the world.  It merges certain elements of ballet, modern and jazz and encourages a sense of freedom using breath, unpredictable and contrasting rhythms, directions, and postures and floor work'.

We offer Contemporary classes at multiple levels to our ballet and jazz pupils who have reached and are taking classes Grade 2 standard upwards.

'Commercial refers to the style of dancing often performed in concerts, live shows, music videos, movies, industrials and obviously commercials.  There are many different styles of dance that can be worked into the commercial category, such as hip hop, jazz, street dance, locking and popping, breakdancing, krumping and more.  Commercial dance is extremely good fun to do and super entertaining for audiences'.

We offer Commercial classes at two levels, from 7 years old.

Musical Theatre & Acro

'Our Musical Theatre class covers singing, acting and dancing often combining the skills together.  We focus mainly on acting and singing skills looking at building confidence and developing the techniques used for both.  Within the class we also work on songs from West-End and Broadway shows in which students have the opportunity to perform solo as well as in a group learning and building their musical theatre skills in the process'.

Musical theatre is a fun and syllabus free class for all ages from 5 years and abilities.

'Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with acrobatic elements.  It is important to note that Acro dance is not the same as gymnastics and there is a need to teach Acro skills differently to gymnastics.  Acro classes cover five main areas; flexibility, limbering, balancing, tumbling and strength.  All of these skills are a great asset to a dancer and can benefit them greatly for their other styles of dance studied.  Our Acro teachers are all certified with Acrobatic Arts and we follow their training programme'.

We offer Acro classes to students aged 5 years and above.  It is preferable that students take this class alongside Ballet and Jazz.
