TERMS AND CONDITIONS

                                                                           Terms and Conditions of Registration

Trial Classes - a two week trial with payment for two weeks allowable.  The remainder of the fees are payable on completion of the two week trial if the class is to be continued.  No further fees are payable if the class is unsuitable - or we allow one free trial class (we recommend that 2 classes give you a more rounded idea of our tuition).

Tuition Fees - Are based on recommendations from the Imperial Society of Teachers for Dance, and are subject to change.  We will notify  you in advance of any increase to class fees.  All fees must be paid termly in advance, except any class advertised as being weekly fees, and can be paid by cheque, cash or bank transfer as detailed on the invoice.  If multi class discount is to be applied then all classes must be paid for before the beginning of term.  Special arrangements must be made with Leanne or Janice if this is not possible.  All private lessons must be paid for at the time of the lesson and maybe charged for if cancelled at short notice.  We have not increased our fees for several years and out baby class fees have been reduced.

Discontinuning Classes - At least half a term's notice (e.g. 6 weeks) is required in writing or 6 weeks payment in lieu of classes for any student wishing to discontinue any classes.  We need to be able to plan the classes with the teachers in advance.  Due notice of discontinuance is essential.

Registration Forms - Must be completed for each student, with full contact details.  These will be kept private and only by the school.  Contact details must be kept up to date. We have to pass some information on to Councils, Festivals and Examining Boards - but this will only be for licensing purposes and examination needs.  We will seek your permission before dispersing information.

Cancellation of Classes - In the event of any classes being necessary owing to unforeseen circumstances e.g. sickness or extreme weather, we will do our best to advise everyone affected and reschedule dates. It may not always be possible to contact everyone, but such information is always displayed in our private Facebook group LHTS Peeps.

External Classes - Prior permission must be sought from the principal for any pupil wishing to participate in any external vocation classes, amateur or professional productions.  Permission will not normally be withheld unless there is a conflict of interest with commitments at the school.  We encourage students to gain as much experience as possible.  However, as we are aiming to train our pupils to the best of their abilities, we would want to ensure that any outside classes would not in anyway interfere with our teaching ethics.

Correct Uniform - Must be worn to class.  Hair must be tied back and absolutely no jewellery or watches to be allowed in class.  Each studio has a safe box where precious items can be stored during class.  It is dangerous to wear jewellery in class, and hair should not be loose.

Infants and Young Children - Parents or guardians are responsible for their children whilst on school premises.  Please do not allow young children to run up and down the corridors, or behave in a disruptive manner.  Any toys used my be tidied away.

Kitchen - Children under 10 years are not allowed in the kitchen without adult supervision.  All refreshments must be paid for.  There is an honesty box for this purpose in the kitchen.  For health and safety reasons it is essential that all crockery and cutlery are tidied away after use, taps and microwave switched off.  No knives are to be left in the reach of children.

Studios - Children are not permitted in the studios without a teacher/teaching assistance or adult.  There are mirrors, barres and props in the studios, all very tempting for children to climb.

Parents may be invited to watch classes - At the end of the term. At other times viewing is only allowed with teacher consent.  We provide a waiting room for parents.  Please ensure young children visit the toilet before class.

We endeavour to create a safe environment for our pupils - Please help by being respectful of the building and our neighbours.  Please keep rooms tidy and collect all belongings.  We do not accept responsibility for any loss or damage to items left on the premises.  Items not claimed in 'Lost Property' will be disposed off after adequate notice is given.

Examinations - Teachers will decide when a pupil is ready to take an examination and parental permission must be given and exam fees paid in advance.  Correct examination uniform as stipulated by the teacher must be worn.  Examinations normally require extra exam tuition to prepare the pupil for the exam.  No refunds are obtainable for examination fees, in the cases of sickness the ISTD will normally allow a half credit for the examination to be taken at some future session.  Results of the examinations are given as soon as we receive them, but certificates are normally given at our annual Prize giving event.  Exams normally take place during the school working day but permission is not normally withheld by schools for this.   Sometimes it will be necessary for exams to be taken at a different studio.  i.e. when we do not have enough students ready to warrant a session at LHTS.

Festivals, Displays and Shows - Students invited to take part in Festivals must adhere to the school, and the Festival rules.  LHTS hoodies or t-shirts should be worn at all Festival/Displays etc.  We expect all our students to take part in our shows.  Show term is geared to the production, and we expect everyone to co=operate in making the show as professional as possible. Costumes will be provided or made and we welcome help from parent/older pupils in this field.   Costuming will be costed as low as practical, but will need to be paid for in advance of the production, and deposits are normally required at the beginning of Show term.  Any costume loaned/hired must be returned in the same condition in which it was received.  If a pupil is not able to partake in the show, then the teacher must be informed as early as possible.

Progress - The Principal or teacher will be happy to discuss your child's progress; however this must not be at a time when it disrupts any classes.  When entering a class where students are working in the centre, please walk quietly round the edge of the studio if invited in by the teacher.  This is a courteous way of passing through a class or private lesson.

Pupils - Are expected to be polite, courteous and respectful to all teachers, visitors and parents as well as to each other whilst at the school.

Car Parking - We have no official spaces at the school and we request you to use the spaces at the front of the building for drop off, pick up and save for persons with mobility problems.

Students will be asked to leave without Notice for any serious breach of the school's terms and conditions; or for any serious misconduct.

Child Safeguarding - Our Child Protection Policy is regularly updated and available to everyone.

Choreography - Belongs to the Leanne Hughes Theatre School and is not to be used elsewhere without prior permission, if a student leaves the school the choreography remains the legal property of Leanne Hughes Theatre School.
